Recently, the most important changes have related to self-expandable metal stents (SEMSs), which are now available in a wide variety of designs, and to treatment techniques. This review is part of a combined publication that expresses ESGE’s current view on endoscopic biliary stenting. The technology review mentioned above describes the stent models and stenting techniques. The accompanying clinical guideline stating stenting evidence and recommendations will be published later this year.
